The use of technology is vital in the classroom. Each generation wants to be receive instruction according to their technology. If students are taught be old means, they tend to become bored simply because of the old look. However, its the contrary when technology is used, current technology is considered cool and grasps the students attention.
Thus, as a teacher I need to create lesson plans using new technology such as podcasts and videocasts. As a student I hate when the teacher pulls out projector slides and old videos. Their simple use of out-dated technology makes the class and material boring and I tend to loss most all focus. Technology really does make or break the excitement and presentation of the material.
Not only shall I create lessons using new technology such as podcasts and videocasts, but I must also create assignments in which my students will create podcasts and videocasts to present the material. This fun technology is a great way to keep the students excited to learn and accomplish assignments.

Lessons Learned
Ever changing technology is something I never stop to think about until it is brought up. I believe I don't analyze it often because I was a child being educated during the big computer technology boom; thus, I was taught through experience that technology is ever changing in education. From the early 90s to the new millennium, my elementary to high school education evolved drastically from all paper work to all computer work.
Due to the ever-going evolution of technology in education, I must continue to learn and implement new technology in my assignments such as: podcast and videocasts for in class presentations. It is important to remember that not only technology causes instruction and assignments to change, but as well cause the classroom environment and information literacy skills will change.
Now that we have so much technology nowadays, students have more distractions that cause them to not want to learn nor pay attention. Hence, it is vital that we use technology to our advantage and come up with assignments that are motivating, such as: Topics relevant to their own lives and experiences; Opportunities to write creatively; Having an audience for their work.

Strengths & Weaknesses
According to the UNI survey and NET Standards, I am at an apprentice level of technological pedagogy. My strength is I know how to use the technology, but my weakness is I am not experienced in the teaching and assessing of technology. As a beginning teacher I plan on preparing lesson plans in which I will have to teach students how to use the Internet to do research on a Latin country and then use PowerPoint to present the Latin country assigned. In this lesson plan I will have to demonstrate to the students how to research Latin countries and how to use the technology of Power Point.
To help me become a better instructor I must become more motivated and better informed on how to use technology in my instruction. Power Point Activities
We are learning how to use Power Point activities and teach students how to use Power Point.
As a teacher, student, colleague I can use Power Point to make great hand-outs and presentations. We are doing this so we can learn how to teach future students how to use Power Point to make good presentations and hand-outs. This can apply to me in my material I prepare for my classes of instruction. This technology means that my students can have more resources while learning material. To my colleagues I can also teach them how to covert Microsoft Power Point into Microsoft Picture It.
This new information does not change my current schema as I was already aware of all PowerPoint abilities. This information will not change the type of teacher I will be in the future because I believe technology should be a very important instruction method. The students can perform an assignment of making a Power Point collage of a country of their choosing. They will use this hand-out to present the country and several aspects of the country. They can collaborate with one another over the internet in groups of two. This will help me become a better future teacher as it will allow me to put more responsibility on my students and teach them how to be better independent. This information will help me to become a better future colleague as it will allow me to teach them how to use Power Point as Picture It. This will allow us to engage in workshops to teach one another new things.

Digital Camera
We are learning how to use the Picasa program to make a PowerPoint presentation of UVU.
As a teacher, student, colleague I can use Picasa to give great presentations. We are doing this so that we can learn how to use this program which allows us to modify pictures and make them have different effects. I can use this in my other classes and work in order to give presentations. This technology means that I will be able to present materiel more effectively and powerfully.
To my future students, this means that I will be able to show them how to make culture presentations with great effects. Internet Safety
I am learning about the importance of internet saftey. After personally reading and learning about many factors of internet saftey, as a class we discused the dangers and precuations of the internet.
As a teacher, student, colleague I must know that the internet can be a very danguores place and that I must be very cautious. We are doing this to educate us on the real life dangers of the internet. This applies to me becasue I could come accross material in the internet that could harm me legally, emotionally or moraly. With technology there come great responsiblity that I must take in count.
This technology means more responsiblity for my future students. They will be educated on what is allowed and not allowed and will be held accontable for not keeping the rules. This new information changes my current schema as it helps me realize of the dangers of the internet such as bullying. I am learning how to make moving digital stories, I am doing this by creating a culture digital story lesson.
As a teacher, student, colleague I will be able to belay more powerful messages as I connect to one's emotional side and get them to really think about the point I am trying to display. We are doing this so we can be able to better our presentations. In the classroom and my other classes I can use this tool in order to present more diverse lessons as digital stories tend to get one's attention. This is a great technology resource that will allow me to be a more powerful presenter/teacher.
To my future stutdents, this technology means more engagin lessons that makes learning more effective. This new information gives me the new schema of using emotions to affect learning, which will result in better diverse instruction. As an assignment, students will have to create their own 3 minute culutre digital story in a group of three. I will become a better future colleague as I will be able to teach my fellow teachers how to use this type of lesson to instruct. In our department we can make a requisite that in our program all students hafve to make a culture digital story. Digital stories are a simple tool that can have very strong impacts. Thus, for how simple it is to make a digital story, everyone should become aware of the great cons they provide.

Cyber Laws, copyrights
I am learning the importance of cover Copyright, Creative Commons, and intellectual property and digital copyright.
As a teacher, student, and colleague, it is vital that I do not violate legal copyrights. We are learning that it is considered theft, if we do so then we can be criminally charged. Nowadays copyright theft has had many problems as millions of people are breaking these laws. In order to be safe I must be careful with technology available to me and make sure that I do not violate these laws.
This technology means that my future students must learn that violating copyrights is a very serious crime. This information changes my current schema as it reminds me that when I was a student I was ignorant of copyrights, and thus violated them. I can give my students an assignment to work in groups and to read and do an assignement on copyright laws. In our department we must have a zero tolarence rule on copyrights and not allow our students to voilate these laws.

Conocer vs. Saber
The conocer vs. saber presentation addresses the ambiguity of the English verb “to know”. In order to convey the meaning of the verb “to know”, one must learn two Spanish verbs “conocer and saber”. The verb “to know” has many different meanings, hence the Spanish language uses these two verbs. This presentation was created to help learners differentiate and understand the uses of these two verbs.
The teacher we are assisting feels that the conocer vs. saber grammar lesson is a topic in which many students struggle; hence, he asked us to make a lesson that instructs the specific meanings of the two verbs. This visual lesson will be of much benefit in the students’ ability to differentiate the meaning of “to know”.
This video-cast connects to the NETS standards by implementing NETS standard Three, Model Digital-Age Work and Learning; which is, teachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. In this presentation the teacher includes the following points of standard three: a. demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations.
c. communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats. d. model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning. This video-cast also connects to the INTASC Standards by containing
Level 1: Goal 1: Communicate in Languages Other Than English, Standard 1: Students engage in conversations. In this presentation the teacher includes the following points of standard one: a. Participate in brief guided conversations related to needs, interests, likes, and dislikes. d. Ask and answer simple questions.
Some potential drawbacks to using this series in my future classroom are the following: Students get distracted and pay more attention to the the visuals then the actually material, message or lesson. If instructed as homework, student will not be able to ask questions.

Video Cast Tools
We are learning how to use programs and tools that assist with the creation of videocasts. The programs that we are learning are the following: Microsoft Office Picture Manager 2003, Jing and Audacity.
These programs make learning funnier for teachers, students, and colleagues. They are fun programs for students to learn and use and also for teachers use. We are doing this so that we can expand our technology knowledge and abilities, and thus be able to make better presentations. Be learning these programs, I now have knowledge of more tools to use for projects in my other classes or for personal reasons. This technology makes it possible for me and my colleges to have more fun and make better presentations.
This technology will help my future students create great presentations. This new information changes my current schema. Now I will not be limited only to PowerPoint, and be able to progress the effectiveness of my presentations. In the future I will be teacher that requires much work to be presented over technology. I am strong believer in that presenting information causes one to experience elite learning. My students in groups will give videocast presentations of grammar, vocab and culture topics. They will be able to save info off of their screens and share it with one another in collaboration. Podcasts
We are learning how to make Podcasts. This simple technology is completley new to me. I had know idea that great programs such as garageband existed. Podcasts are a great way to instruct students in a diverse way.
As a teacher I will be able to be a more exciting teacher. My students will have a funnier learning experience and my colleague will apreciate the excitement from these sources. This is an excellent resource that I can use in other class presentations or in employment presentations. Google Sites
Learning how to make a google website involves the use of many tools. One must learn how to make various appealing pages, implement a calender, make a place for archives and other resouces, ect.
This make the life of the teacher, studetns and colleagues more organized and easier. Sites allow everyone to be informed of what is going on and nobody is left ignorant unless they choose to be irresponsible. We are doing this so that we can be better organized as teachers. I can implement the calender from this site to help me keep organized in my personal, educational and professional life. This website is a great resource. It can let people learn about me and help my colleagues and I stay on the same page and up to date with each other. The site is a like a full-on life planner and resourcer that is available anywhere I go.

Week 2 (Everything Google)
What:
Learning how to use Google documents is very beneficial. The Google tools will help me easily collaborate with my colleagues. However, most importantly these tools will assist me in being organized; and allow for me to more effectively present material and have material easily disposable for my students use.
So What:
These tools benefit everyone. Teachers, students, and colleagues are able to easily collaborate on projects. They are also able to personally or professionally organize and network their lives.
We are doing these projects so that we can have first hand experience and understand the usefulness of this free technology. Google applications will be a great asset to me as a teacher. I will be able to place presentations for my students use, and correct their documents on-line. These benefit all parties by saving on cost and time. Hence, Google helps my life be more efficient and simpler. Google should also benefit my colleagues as we are able to plan and organize on our own time and do not always need to meet in person at a set time in order to collaborate.

I am for the use of technology, thus, I will be able to be a good colleague and teach older teachers how to use this technology. In are departments this technology can help us be on the same page. We will be able to make up similar syllabuses and have similar requirements for all of our students. When we come across good ideas or articles that we feel could benefit our department, then we will easily be able to share these type of documents with our colleagues. Finally, I am not a fan of having to get together for meetings to discuss every little thing. This technology allows us to communicate easily and own our own convenience without having to always get together in person.

My Ideal Classroom.
My ideal classroom will have Spanish visual aids and posters on the walls to help with memorization of key vocabulary, phrases and grammar rules. In some of my student teaching experiences the teachers had visual aids and posters on the wall. Upon seeing brilliant their walls, I desired as well to have the same when I become a teacher. I will want to have white boards all over the walls with many markers. This way students can practice as individual and as a class. The use of writing on a whiteboards promotes learning for diverse learning styles. As a teacher I desire to have my classroom have a very social atmosphere. In order to learn a language, one must speak the language; thus, I feel that it is necessary that there by much social interaction among the students.
In order to aid my students in their communication skills in a second language, media sources must be used in my classroom. It will be ideal that there be computers and recorders to help my students practice and present the material learned. Media sources will make for great aids as students perform presentations in the Spanish foreign language.
